Access

We are committed to equity, access and inclusion and we are a neurodiverse team. We know that every person has different needs so it can usually be helpful to chat through how we can make things work for your child. Please contact us to let us know if there is anything we can do to make this opportunity accessible and comfortable for your child, or if you require more information about access provision.

email: [email protected] mobile: 07967 187822 (calls, text or WhatsApp)

Carers and/or family members are welcome to attend with the participant, but this is not a requirement for all participants and we encourage children to attend independently, as they often engage more fully in activities and with other children without family members present. We are recruiting volunteers to add capacity to our team and enable us to provide some one-to-one support for any children that may need this to enable them to fully engage in the sessions. Volunteers will receive training from Curiosity Productions in safeguarding and facilitating creative play,  but will not be fully qualified carers or support staff.

At St Patrick's Church Hall there is a ground level step free entrance with a platform stairlift up to the first floor where most activities take place.

The stairlift has a seat and can also accommodate a standard size wheelchair. It may not be large enough for some powered wheelchairs so please contact us to discuss if you feel that this could be an issue for you. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.

There is a quiet space where participants can take time out from the main activity, which will be facilitated by a Curiosity Club activity leader.

There is a carpark with reserved accessible parking spaces.

Finding your way

Address:

St. Patrick's Church, 299 Wolverhampton Road, WV10 0QQ (close to New Cross Hospital)

Look out for the green St Patrick's signs and go down the side of the church.

The Church Hall is behind St Patrick's Church, on the left as you go into the carpark.

The sessions

We have a large space with multiple activities on offer so we will split the groups up according to age, ability or interest during the sessions.

St. Patrick's Church is next to Heath Town Park, so we will ask for parent/carer permission to take children over to the park if the weather is good. There will always be at least 2 adults with any group of children going out into the park and all trips out will be risk assessed and follow our safeguarding procedures.

With at least 48 hours advance notice, we can cater for any dietary requirements with the lunch we provide.

We ask that all participants and team members avoid bringing nuts to the sessions.

We are unable to provide hot food, but aim to ensure that there are plenty of healthy options, fruit and vegetables. All staff handling food have level 2 food hygiene and safety training.

What to bring

Please ensure children attending:

  • Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that they can move easily in and don't mind getting messy in the arts and crafts activities.
  • Bring warm and waterproof clothing in case we go outdoors.
  • We will provide water, squash and fruit. You are also welcome to bring a refillable water bottle and snacks.
  • If you have not booked a lunch please bring food (all children booking with a HAF code will get lunch - please see what is provided above).
  • Please do not bring anything containing nuts.
  • Children are welcome to bring fidget toys or anything else that will ensure they are comfortable in the sessions.
