Making a podcast: can you help?

Last week, our partners, Babies' Adventures in Music (BAM) announced that we'll be developing a podcast for parents of babies and young children, after we received funding from Arts Council England; but we need some help from parents, carers and guardians to make it happen!

The working title is ‘The Night Shift’ - a podcast that crafts stories, songs and sounds to accompany you as you feed, sooth and care for tiny people through the night.

We think this podcast should be guided, tested and framed by the people who'll most need it - so we're inviting anyone interested to get in touch, and attend some of our focus group sessions!

We’ll provide refreshments, travel expenses within Birmingham, and a space for us to meet, chat and share our experiences of night-time parenting and caring. You can tell us what you currently do / watch / listen to, to help you stay awake and soothe you back to sleep - and you can let us know how a podcast could compliment that. The space will be open and informal, so please stay for any of it that you can manage - and of course children will be welcome too.

Are you up for it?

To get updates, or to join our WhatsApp group, please get in touch with us at [email protected], or 07376 020819 - and we'll keep you in the loop.

Next meet-ups

  • Midlands Arts Centre (Main Theatre space), Friday 19 May, 2:30-4pm
  • Online via zoom, Wednesday 14th June, 11am-12pm
  • Midlands Arts Centre (Foyle space), Friday 28th July, 2:30-4pm
  • Midlands Arts Centre (Foyle space), Thursday 21st September, 2:30-4pm

If you're coming, great! Please do message us in advance so that we know numbers for refreshments, and can help with travel expenses.

Also note that dates at the Midlands Arts Centre will be in the afternoon, after BAM's monthly performances there; so why not come to a show beforehand? You can get tickets at: https://macbirmingham.co.uk/event/babies-adventures-in-music-bam-2023
