Saturday Club Workshop Manager Callout

Curiosity Productions are looking for a compassionate and energetic workshop manager for a new Saturday Club starting in September. 

We are interested to hear from producers/ project managers who are committed to inclusive practice, as many of the children we work with have additional emotional and support needs. 

Curiosity Club provides playful, inclusive, creative opportunities for children in Heath Town, Wolverhampton. Participants include children who have additional emotional and support needs and children who are care-experienced. This Saturday Club builds on our Curiosity Club holiday activities, which we have been delivering in Heath Town since 2023.

Pay and hours 

Fixed term part-time role. 

£18 per hour, 6 hours per week, for 14 Saturdays 13th September to 13th December. 

Set-up from 12pm, sessions run 1.30pm-4pm, cleared by 5pm, plus 1 hour for administration and reporting. 

This will be an employed role, tax and NI will be deducted if this income takes you over your personal tax allowance. 

Location: All workshops to take place at St Patrick’s Church Hall, Heath Town, Wolverhampton, WV10 0QQ (near New Cross Hospital and Bentley Bridge) 

Job description 

The role will include a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, the most important being to ensure all of the children, volunteers, staff and workshop leaders feel safe and supported.  

The role will include: 

  • Setting up and clearing the space with the Curiosity team. 
  • Facilitating a team check-in and check-out before and after each session. 
  • Ensuring all team members, including workshop leaders, workshop assistants and volunteers are clear about their tasks and have everything they need to run the sessions successfully. 
  • Managing sign-in as children arrive and communicating clearly with children and their families. 
  • Manging the administration of registers, first aid reports and safeguarding reports. 
  • Managing refreshments and simple food prep (toast, fruit & veg) 
  • Supporting the children with negotiating challenges, managing emotions and interactions. 
  • Supporting children who need to use the quiet room. 
  • Providing additional support as needed to ensure workshop sessions run smoothly and children have the best experience. 
  • Creating a short report after each session to send to the Creative Director, including participant and volunteer registers, any incidents or accidents, any feedback or observations of opportunities to improve or develop the sessions and any special moments. 
  • Anything else required to ensure the Saturday Club runs smoothly and everyone feels safe and supported. 

 

Person specification – essential 

  • A commitment to equity, access and inclusion. 
  • Experience managing workshops, projects or events. 
  • Experience of working with children. 
  • Ability to work in a team as a leader and a collaborator. 
  • Strong communication skills, particularly face to face. 
  • Caring, compassionate and considerate. 

 

Desirable 

  • Experience of working with children with additional emotional and/ or support needs. 
  • Experience managing volunteers. 
  • Understanding of health & safety and carrying out risk assessments. 
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead trained. 
  • First Aid Trained. 
  • Food Hygiene trained.
